Crypto & Blockchain — a vulnerability here isn't a data breach. It's an irreversible transfer.

Most real-world losses don't start in the smart contract everyone's auditing — they start in the off-chain infrastructure nobody's watching as closely.

The threat, specifically

The industry's attention gravitates to smart-contract audits, and rightly — a logic flaw in a contract can drain a pool with no way to reverse the transaction once it's confirmed. But the pattern behind most large real-world losses is different: exchange backends, custody services, bridge relayers, and wallet-integration APIs — ordinary off-chain infrastructure running ordinary web-application code — are where a rounding assumption, a missing signature check, or an unauthenticated internal endpoint turns into the incident. These systems get less scrutiny than the contracts because they look familiar, and familiar systems get tested with familiar assumptions, in an industry where the assumptions are exactly what attackers target first.
